Home: Astronomy: STS-84 Launch

Photographing the night launch of STS-84 was the most difficult task I've undertaken since getting into amateur photography. The best result is shown here. My biggest mistake was following the advice of a camera shop near the space center, which resulted in my using ISO100 film. If I ever do it again, I'll shoot ISO400 (and digitally, of course).

This photo was taken with a Canon 35mm using a 300mm f4.0 lens and a Tamron 2X teleconverter. Distance was just over 3 miles, at the NASA employee viewing area. An awesome sight which I highly recommend to everyone!
